Through the Lens - Leonardo DiCaprio

Spanning swagger, vulnerability, and razor-sharp intensity, this retrospective celebrates Leonardo DiCaprio’s remarkable evolution as one of modern cinema’s defining actors. From the operatic passion of Romeo + Juliet to the moral murkiness and crackling tension of The Departed, DiCaprio consistently dives headfirst into characters on the edge. His psychological intensity shines in Shutter Island, while Django Unchained reveals his bold, unforgettable villainy. Come with us on a journey with an actor unafraid of risk, reinvention, and the darker corners of the human psyche.

The Leonardo DiCaprio season is on from 23 Jan to 2 April 2026 with a different great film each week.

The Wolf of Wall Street is definitely not one of the wallflowers of Dicaprio’s filmography but it is definitely one not to miss on the big screen. Although he has played more gentle and tender characters throughout his career, the role of Jordan Belfort requires an entirely different persona. Based loosely on the real Jordan Belfort’s memoirs, the film follows Belfort as he becomes a stockbroker and navigates his way through the ups and down of Wall Street in New York City. Packed with frivolity and bad habits, the workers of Wall Street work hard but play harder.

Baz Lurhmann is famed for his adaptations and The Great Gatsby is truly one of the best. Bursting with decadence and reminiscent of the roaring 20s, DiCaprio plays a mysterious millionaire who hosts lavish parties at his home hoping to reconnect with a past lover. Featuring a fabulous cast including Toby Maguire, Carey Mulligan Isla Fisher, get ready to be transported back to the glitzy life of the 1920s.

Quentin Tarantino’s period comedy drama Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood has a phenomenal ensemble cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margo Robbie. Based in 1969 Los Angeles, DiCaprio plays an aging actor as he navigates the fast moving and changing Hollywood film industry. In true Tarantino fashion, expect drama, twists and turns and a very climactic ending.

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s most notable roles is in sci Fi action film Inception by Christopher Nolan. Dom Cobb (played by DiCaprio) is a professional thief in the stealing of valuable secrets from the subconscious during the dream state. Having this rare ability, he has transformed into an international fugitive and has had to undertake many sacrifices over the course of his life. Joined by big names such as Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, Inception is extremely highly regarded among film fans and critics alike and definitely holds its place as one of Nolan’s greatest films.

A young DiCaprio plays Romeo alongside Claire Danes playing Juliet in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic story of star-crossed lovers in Romeo + Juliet. In this slightly unconventional retelling, Luhrmann blends Shakespearean English with modernised settings, costumes and situations to create an engaging and visually beautiful film. Using such tenderness and softness, DiCaprio portrays Romeo in a mesmerising way and helps to establish himself as one of the greatest actors of his generation.
